NH Republicans Already Looking to Raise Your Property Taxes Again?

With Governor Ayotte being sworn in last week and the NH legislature starting to consider legislation this week, 2025 is already off to a fast start. Granite Staters will be anxiously watching to see what the Republican-controlled State House prioritizes and we are already seeing them focusing on pushing ideological issues like school vouchers rather than reducing costs for hardworking Granite Staters.

First Week of Legislature Shows NH GOP Raising Property Taxes, NH Democrats Pushing for Tax Relief
This week marks the first week that the NH Legislature will start considering legislation and there could not be a more stark contrast between the priorities of NH Republicans and NH Democrats on property taxes.
On Tuesday, the NH Senate Finance Committee will hold a public hearing on SB 20, also known as the “Property Tax Relief Act of 2025”, sponsored by all Senate Democrats and House Democratic leadership. This legislation would reduce local property taxes across the state by more than $28 million per year.
In complete contrast, on Thursday, the NH House will consider HB 115, sponsored by House and Senate Republicans, which will expand the already over-budget school voucher program and force New Hampshire towns to increase property taxes.
So, as we begin the 2025 NH legislative session, we have NH Republicans prioritizing increasing your property taxes and sending it to private and religious schools while NH Democrats are focusing on reducing your property tax burden. We can only assume this trend will continue and Amplify will be there to hold our elected officials accountable.
Can Ayotte Keep Promises & Clean Up the Messes Left by Sununu?
Last Thursday, Governor Kelly Ayotte was sworn into office as New Hampshire’s 83rd Governor. As she steps into the corner office, Granite Staters are watching closely to see if she will deliver on her promises to lower costs, tackle the housing crisis, and clean up the messes left by Chris Sununu.
With her party in full control of the legislature, will she be able to show leadership and deliver results for New Hampshire working families? Or will she cave to the radical impulses of her party and become just another typical politician with a bag of empty promises?

Trump Makes His Priorities Known; Will NH Republicans Play Along?
Last Tuesday, during a press conference at Mar-A-Lago, President-elect Donald Trump proposed reckless, radical, unrealistic interventionist foreign policies. He refused to rule out military and economic force in a half-baked aim to seize Greenland, Canada, and Panama, he pointlessly proposed renaming the Gulf of Mexico, and vowed to escalate American involvement in the war in Gaza.
Donald Trump's press conference showcased the MAGA movement's increasingly absurd and extremist agenda that focuses on his own self-interest and the wacky fantasies of his most fringe supporters, while families continue to suffer high costs. Even before he’s been inaugurated, Donald Trump has made his priorities clear: delay his hush-money sentencing, rename the Gulf of Mexico, and buy Greenland. Kelly Ayotte & New Hampshire Republicans need to explain to Granite Stater how any of these will lower costs for our families.
